Ñ It is inadvisable to use KODAK BROWSER software with file compression software. Doing so will result in the inability to read or save files correctly, and a possible loss of data.
Ñ If you wish to save an already open catalog without changing the filename, use File Save rather than File Save As.
Ñ In the Objects menu, Save Image As TIFF and Save Image As EPS support all image types except Thousands of Colors.
SYSTEM 6.x USERS - System 6.x users can only Save Image As in PICT format. It is recommended that System 6.x users upgrade to System 7.x to take full advantage of the Save Image As function and many other Macintosh features and functions that are unique to System 7.x.
HINTS AND TIPS
GET INFO - The File Size field in the Get Info dialog does not represent the exact size and may be rounded to the nearest kilobyte.
APPLE PHOTO ACCESS - Apple Photo Access version 2.0 corrects limitations that users may have experienced with earlier versions of Apple Photo Access. Apple Photo Access version 2.0 is part of Macintosh CD-ROM Software 5.0. Contact Apple or your authorized Apple reseller for information on obtaining Macintosh CD-ROM Software 5.0.
SEARCHING - When searching for a partial word match ("begins with" or "ends with"), using 3 or more letters results in much faster, more useful results.
MEMORY ALLOCATION - When dealing with large catalogs or adding 100 or more images at a time (drag-and-drop, copy/paste, or similar operations), increase the KODAK BROWSER Application Memory Partition to 4-6 megabytes. If KODAK BROWSER software detects a low-memory situation, a warning will be issued to the user. At this time close any open photo windows, clear the clipboard (this may be done by copying a single thumbnail), and save or close all open catalogs. If a low-memory situation occurs frequently, increase the memory allocated to KODAK BROWSER software.
SORTING THUMBNAILS - When sorting by a user-defined field, you will get faster and more useful sort results if you first perform a Search operation on that field to narrow the choice of thumbnails. The currently displayed list can then be sorted by that user-defined field for printing, browsing, or further search qualification.
SAVING CATALOG CD IMAGES - If you do not wish to copy the entire master keyword list and entry helpers list when saving a portion of a Catalog CD, dragging and dropping the selected thumbnails to a new catalog will complete many times faster than a comparable Save Selected As operation.
